| At First Church of Lombard, we have 2 children's choirs, a Youth Handbell Choir, a Youth Choir, an Adult Handbell Choir, a Chancel Choir, and a Contemporary Music Group. We invite you to inquire about any of our groups, we are always looking for new members.
This choir is open to high schoolers and adults. We sing 4-part music including spirituals, gospel music, contemporary sacred music, as well as Renaissance and Baroque music. Our goal is to sing one or two anthems each week that coincide with the liturgical year, and highlight the pastoral message.
Our adult handbell choir, also open to high school age meets once a week, and performs monthly in worship, also providing music for festival Sundays. The ability to read music and rhythms and enjoy challenges is helpful in playing handbells. We enjoy ringing a 5 octave Malmark Handbell set.
One Step Closer is our contemporary music group that includes singers and guitars. We are still looking for a drummer to join our group!!! We are always open for more voices. This group meets weekly, and plays for worship services at least once a month.
Youth Choir
The Youth Choir is a mixture of instruments and voices. Open to 7th through 12th graders, we currently have 2 flutists and a violinist. Come join us! Male voices would be a plus!
This choir is for children in 3rd to 6th grades. Rhythm games, solfegge, vocal development and handchimes enhance our rehearsals which include unison and 2 part music reading. This group sings in church almost every month. One or two musicals a year are shared with our younger choir.
One Joyful Voice is for children in K - 2nd grades. This group learns mostly by rote, combining fun songs with unison songs to share in church about once a month. Rhythm echo and some solfegge are mixed into our rehearsals. This group enjoys learning musicals to perform with the older children's choir. |
